Children Bunk Beds
Children's bunk beds are probably the most prized possessions young kids would ever have. They may not know it
but having a bunk bed has some psychological advantages. One is that by having a bunk bed means that they share the
room with a sibling and this enables them to bond. Normally the eldest sibling gets the bottom one while the
younger one gets the top one. By sleeping in the same room it creates a bond between them. Studies have shown that
family members who bond early in life can lead to lasting family relationships.
Children's bunk beds have been an offshoot from the traditional bunk beds but have some modifications. First
off, these children bunk beds are smaller and have more safety measures so that these kids don't fall of the top
bunks. They are equipped with metal bars on the side and some have the option of having them foam padded so that
the child is not hurt when he moves around while sleeping. Other features may include soft step ladders with
rails so that the child could easily get into the top bunk without difficulty.
Some bunks may be equipped with curtains to offer some sort of privacy. This is ideal if the siblings who share
the room would want time alone by themselves.
Children bunks have become diverse as the manufacturers have identified needs for kids. Aside from the standard
bunk bed, some have even gone as far as to make it a triple decked bunk bed. Usually these bunk bed types can be
found in summer camps, dorms, and residence halls. This is done to save on the space available. However, some
parents have chosen to adopt this concept into their homes. Due to space restrictions, the bunk beds are the best
choice.
There is a variation of the bunk bed called the loft bed that allows the child to sleep on the upper part of the
bunk while the lower area is converted into a work area or study desk. This is very economical and it avoids the
space from going to waster. There are several makes of loft beds that offer pullout beds as part of the storage
compartments and this doesn't affect the floor space. Some makes have additional drawers for added storage but the
price varies here. The more components are used, the higher the price range goes.
Parents who want to save on costs may opt to have a do it yourself bunk beds. There are kits and plans available
at any local hardware store that would let parent see the concept of a bunk bed and then adjust their budget and
space to make it fit. Sometimes parent who live in trailer parks or homes see bunk beds as a real saver.
Of course when dealing with kids, parents have to see whether the kids would like some trimmings like a nice
color or maybe some curtains. All of these are possible and its not hard to customize a bunk bed. The only
problem is that when the kids grow up they might not be able to fit in the bunk bed. Some parents make this
adjustment by having the beds made to a specific length to cover the child's growing years.
